I started Anxiety Stop because I believe everyone should have the tools to handle life—whether at home or work—if we don't have the tools most of us are just winging it. I've always wondered why we’re taught algebra and grammar in school, but not how to manage stress, imposter syndrome, burnout, confidence, anxiety or how to reach our full potential. We’re just expected to figure it out and we end up adopting habits and behaviours from those close to us or, we turn to food, alcohol and substances to help us cope or numb out.
This was me, on the outside, I looked like I had it all together. Nice company cars, decent house, manicured nails you get the picture. But behind the scenes I was eating and drinking my emotions by using food and wine to cope. I felt I wasn't good enough as a wife mum or at at my job. I was always comparing and underneath the happy facade I was miserable and stressed and often riddled with anxiety. This way of being felt totally normal as when I bought it up most of my friends and family admitted they were coping in the same fashion. Sometimes I would have spells of creative positivity, willpower and smash goals. I even ran a marathon only to loose momentum and never ran again.
Over the years I did have times when I could master my feelings, achieve my potential and actually like myself and not look to others to validate me. My breakthrough moments were accompanied by feelings of self worth, confidence and focused ability to smash goals using science and NLP ( Neuro Linguistic Programming). I first discovered NLP while working in sales when a manager recommended Anthony Robbins' Awaken the Giant Within. That sparked a lifelong passion for personal development. Over the past 30 years, I’ve turned to NLP whenever I needed to change, develop better habits, or simply feel better. I then chose to train and get my accreditation through the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (SNLP), (co-founder of NLP Doctor Richard Bandler)
Now, as a licensed NLP practitioner I have the tools for lasting change and help people ditch stress and self-doubt with practical methods that actually work—so they can feel calmer, more confident, and in control (without the overwhelm).
